Here’s my pick for this past week’s favorite items.
New parka from the Jun Watanabe COMME des GARÇONS MAN collection. The black stripes on white silhouette is a nice touch.
Simply put, Outlier’s 60/30 chino is the pursuit of the perfect pant. Modeled in a military style, the chino is free of waistband. Available in tan and marine blue.
Geometric embroidery has been popping up on various garments lately, but this is the first I’ve seen done on desert boots. White Mountaineering offers up two colorways in its classic desert boot style.
Sailing Jacket from Untold’s 2011 spring/summer collection. The parka-like design have vertical pockets on the chest and waist. The jacket also includes tri-colored pull tabs and a special patterned liner.
Spring is here and summer is just around the corner. Time to break into some swimming trunks. Gotta do it in style even if they’re just shorts. Onia offers a great selection in easy to wear colors.
Don’t be afraid to bring some colors to your shoes. Blue suede footwear with translucent crepe vulcanized band and red sole from Alife. Available at Kasina.
Minimal aesthetic and functional design cycling pack from Nanamica. Available now through Present.

The genius that is Hedi Slimane has done it again. The photograph extraordinaire and former Dior designer recently shot an editorial feature of Gisele for V Magazine. In typical Slimane black and white fashion, the photos look natural and rebellious at the same time. Gisele is as sexy and stunning as she’s ever looked.

I love tarot cards. Not because I’m superstitious, but there’s something magical about them. Simply put, tarot cards is but a way of dissecting your subconscious. It tells you what you may already know but is afraid to confront. Salvador Dali was drawn to the tarot card theme for the same reason. He was fascinated by the subconscious and the occult. These tarot cards were designed by Dali and to be auctioned off by the Modern Masters Gallery next month. Each piece is signed by Dali himself at a very reasonable price of £44,000.

It’s kind of ironic that I am writing about a book surgeon while watching an episode of House. Brian Dettmer is the master at manipulating books to form the most jaw-dropping sculptures. Using knives, tweezers and surgical tools, Brian carves one page at a time out of encyclopedias, medical journals, illustration books and dictionaries. Nothing is relocated or implanted, only removed. I just love human anatomy illustrations. Expect to see us delve into some of that in our upcoming designs. You can head over to My Modern Met to read about the interview with the artist himself.

You might have heard of a little blog called The Sartorialist. In a recently released video, we get a look at the man behind the Camera, Mr. Sartorialist himself, Scott Schumann. The man has an incredible eye for fashion and his blog has a huge online influence on the fashionistas.

Spring is here, the weather’s getting warmer and it’s time to get some new looks. Here’s some of my favorite picks from the past week. Aside from clothing and shoes, there’s also some nice accessories in this week’s selection.
I havn’t been able to give a BAPE release a second look in a long time. This varsity jacket inspired cardigan however is a nice touch. Available soon from select BAPE outlets worldwide.
Adam Kimmel mid-cut sneaker in chukka boot style. This is how to pull-off the sneaker look for a grownup. Available now at Aloha Rag.
Yeah, I’m a nut for leather jackets. But what’s there not to love about this “dip dyed calf leather” offering from Japanese brand BACKLASH. Available now at BlueinGreen in New York.
Are you one of those guys that almost exclusively wear jeans? Well, it’s time to get some colored chinos to mix things up. The West is Dead is a good start.
For the sockless boat shoes look, here’s some nice offerings from Vans with the Zapato Del Barco Pinstripe. Available in navy blue/white and white/navy blue at Bows & Arrows.
Classic styles always stand the test of time. These resurrected original looks from Oliver Peoples is perfect for anyone looking for a timeless look.
Wrist watches are increasingly becoming less relevant as a tool for telling time. However, every man should have a few nice timepieces for accessory. This here is a reproduction of the Chinese pilot’s watch from the ’60s, Seagull 1963. A simple and clean look with a nice touch of fabric straps.
A nice and low-key day to day tote bag from Emissar by Alexander Wise Bags, constructed from leather and recycled military textiles.
